Caritas Hospital and Jewel Autism & Child Development Centre Join Hands for Oral Health Awareness
As part of World Autism Awareness Month 2026, Caritas Hospital, in association with Jewel Autism and Child Development Centre, organized a Free Dental Camp and Awareness Class for children with special needs at the JEWEL Autism and Child Development Centre, Kottayam.
The initiative was aimed at promoting awareness about the importance of early dental care, preventive treatment, and building a positive dental environment for children with special needs.
Awareness Session on Building a Dental Home
The awareness class was conducted on the topic:
“Building a Dental Home for Children with Special Needs: Prevention and Care for a Lifetime of Smiles”
The session was led by Dr. Liza Zacharias, Specialist in Pedodontics, Dental, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Caritas Hospital.
During the session, parents and caregivers were educated on the significance of preventive dental care, regular dental check-ups, and maintaining proper oral hygiene from an early age. The class also focused on creating a comfortable and supportive dental experience for every child.
Focus on Preventive Pediatric Dentistry
The Preventive Pediatric Dentistry Camp was conducted by the Pediatric Dentistry Team of Caritas Hospital. The camp emphasized the message:
“Prevention is Better Than Cure.”
The team highlighted how early intervention and preventive dental practices can help children maintain healthy smiles and avoid major dental issues in the future.
