The Value of Focused Extra-Curricular Activities

By jewelcentreforautism /

When we say 'extra-curricular activities', we understand that these are skills children develop or need to be trained in, beyond the academic subjects they study in school.

That implies a child's ability to sing, dance, art forms, drama, theater, skating, games, sports... these are the things we often recall when we mention the name of a school.

Therefore, the influence of extra-curricular activities—beyond just academics—is very significant in developing a person's unique talents and in molding their character.

The Parent's Role: Guidance, Not Pressure

Often, parents want their children to be exceptionally talented... and we see them forcing children to train in multiple activities. You should never do that.

Instead, follow this approach:

Understand the child's interests and aptitude.

Identify the fields that suit them best and where they have the most potential.

Train them well in one, two, or three extra-curricular activities for the long term.

This focused approach will always be helpful for their career and psychological development.
